Classes include:

Material Handling

Aerial Lift– Including Hands-on Operation

This 2-hour course is designed to complete with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.453 and includes classroom and hands-on operation of a lift

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the required pre-operation inspections.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly inspect (and remove from service if damaged) the lift.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify workplace hazards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of each of the described safe (standard) operating procedures.
  • Operate an aerial lift.

 Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Powered Industrial Trucks

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178 and will include classroom and hands-on operation of a powered industrial truck

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate the knowledge of truck-related topics such as load capacity, truck controls and instrumentation.
• Demonstrate the ability to properly handle and move hazardous materials.
• Demonstrate the ability manipulate loads, including stacking and removing previously stacked materials.
• Demonstration the proper procedure for pre-use inspection.

A hands-on driving (practical) session that will include all of the classroom section as well as ensuring the operator has the skills necessary to operate a PIT. Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Scaffold User

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.450 (Subpart L) and will include a review of the topics necessary for safe operation while on a scaffolding system, including the inspection and tagging processes

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and define the various types of scaffolding.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize hazards associated with scaffolding systems (including electrical, fall protection, access to and from, and falling objects).
  • Demonstrate the ability to control or minimize hazards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use scaffolding, including weight load restrictions and material handling while on the scaffolding.
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect a scaffold prior to use.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of a scaffolding system.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Scissor Lift – Including Hands-on Operation

This 2-hour course is designed to complete with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.453 and includes classroom and hands-on operation of a lift

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the required pre-operation inspections.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly inspect (and remove from service if damaged) the lift.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify workplace hazards.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of each of the described safe (standard) operating procedures.

Bloodborne Pathogens

CPR/AED

Heartsaver®  CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult.  This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.

Key changes reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

• Adult CPR and AED use
• Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR, including child and infant choking
• Optional written test

Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.

CPR/BLS - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation / Basic Life Support

This 4-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.146, Permit Required Confined Spaces

• Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

First Aid/CPR/AED

AED  – Automated External Defibrillator

CPR – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Heartsaver®  First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives

Key changes reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care

OSHA Performance Standards

Confined Space Entry

This 4-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.146, Permit RequiredConfined Spaces

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Permit Required Confined Spaces standard.
  • Describe the requirements of Non-permit and Required Confined Spaces.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the hazard recognition, evaluation and control (physical hazards, health hazards, hazardous atmospheres) process.
  • Demonstrate an understanding f the Entry Team.

The course will consist of lecture, group break-out sessions – including development of an Entry Permit.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Electrical Safety – Unqualified Worker

This 2-hour training is designed to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.331-335 for those who are unqualified to be electricians, but whose work may be performed close to electrical systems

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between Qualified and Unqualified worker.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety-related work practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of commonly energized parts associated with wiring installations (i.e.: disconnects, panels).

The course will consist of lecture and a hands-on review of common electrical installations in the   workplace.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Fall Protection and Prevention

This 4-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.500 (Subpart M) and will review fall protection and prevention methods

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the differences between fall protection and fall prevention.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fall protection and prevention systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop a fall protection plan including rescue.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify anchor points as well as proper application of lanyards and harnesses.

The course will consist of lecture and hands-on instruction on wearing, adjusting, and inspection of harnesses and fall protection equipment.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Ladders

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D and will include discussion of the proper selection, inspection and use of ladders

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the differences between and limitations of wood, metal, and fiberglass ladders.
  • Discuss the requirements for fixed industrial ladders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect ladders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to inspect  to properly select, use and setup ladders.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of ladders.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Lockout/Tagout (Control of Hazardous Energy)

This 4-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.147 and will include identification and isolation of various forms of hazardous energy

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the various OSHA definitions and how they relate to every workplace.
  • Demonstrate the ability to achieve a state of ZERO ENERGY through shutting down equipment, de-energizing, and testing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the steps necessary for a Tag-out-only state.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of group lock-out requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop lockout/tagout procedures and program.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on application of shutting down, locking out, and testing for energy. A mock program, with at least one lockout procedure, will be developed.

Walking and Work Surfaces (including stairways)

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D and will include discussion of aisles and passageways, floor loading protection, and guarding of floor and wall openings

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the requirements of aisles and passageways, such as width as well as floor loading.
  • Describe the requirements for guarding floor and wall openings.
  • Describe the requirements for protection of open-sided platforms (including guard rails/toe boards).
  • Discuss good housekeeping practices.

The course will consist of lecture and Certificates of Completion are provided at the completion of the course.

Power and Hand Tool Safety

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.241 and 29 CFR 1926.300 and will include a hands-on review of tools, their safety devices, and the proper maintenance required for safe operation

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine the hazards associated with the specific types of tools.
  • Discuss the required personal protective equipment for the tool and the task.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct a pre-job inspection.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of tools, their safety devices and understanding the proper care and maintenance required.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Hazardous Materials

HAZWOPER - Refresher

This 8-hour course is designed to satisfy the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 for refresher training

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate the ability to recognize and mitigate hazards.
• Demonstrate the ability to properly select and use personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous materials.
• Demonstrate the ability to develop an Incident command system.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of PPE and a break-out session where a site safety and site control plan are developed. Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

• Demonstrate the ability to recognize and mitigate hazards.
• Demonstrate the ability to properly select and use personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous materials.
• Demonstrate the ability to develop an Incident command system.

HAZWOPER - 1st Responder Awareness

This 8-hour course complies with 29 CFR 1910.120 and provides employees with the training necessary to respond to an incident at a First Responder Awareness level (employees who may be the first to discover an incident involving the release of a hazardous)

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize and identify hazardous substances.
  • Demonstrate the ability to securing the work area.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the proper PPE and other protective equipment (including air monitoring).

The course will consist of lecture as well as a break-out session where attendees will participate in a mock emergency.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

HAZWOPER - Initial (24-hour)

This 24-hour (three days) course is designed to satisfy the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 for initial training.  This course is designed to instruct those who will work in a hazardous work zone but who have limited access

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop an Emergency Response Plan and a Site Safety and Health Plan;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the labeling requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select and use respiratory and personal protective equipment;
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop the proper techniques necessary to avoid exposure to hazardous materials (suiting up).
  • Develop medical surveillance programs and monitoring procedures.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a break-out session where attendees will participate in a mock emergency, including site plan and site control requirements, dressing in the required PPE, securing a damaged container, and participation in the decontamination process.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

HAZWOPER - Initial (40-hour)

This 40-hour (five days) course is designed to satisfy the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 for initial training

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and knowledge for the responsibilities of Incident Commander.
  • Develop an Emergency Response Plan and a Site Safety and Health Plan.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the labeling requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select and use respiratory and personal protective equipment;
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop the proper techniques necessary to avoid exposure to hazardous materials (suiting up).
  • Develop a medical surveillance programs and monitoring procedures.
  • Develop the equipment needed and procedures required for accidental release measures and spill cleanup procedures.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a break-out session where attendees will participate in a mock emergency, including site plan and site control requirements, dressing in the required PPE, securing a damaged container, and participation in the decontamination process.Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)

This 3-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1200 and 29 CFR 1926.59, and will focus on the transition from HAZCOM to OSHA’s incorporation of the Globally Harmonized System

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the scope and application of the HAZCOM Standard and the Globally Harmonized System.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand SDS requirements and process.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand the essential items and materials for a written program.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the training and employee information requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the transition from OSHA’s HAZCOM to GHS.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of an SDS, the hazards applicable to the chemical, and how to properly label containers based on these hazards.   Additionally, training will include the development of a compliance program and required training. Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

OSHA 10/30-Hour Construction

The 10- and- 30-hour training programs were developed by OSHA to provide important safety information on fundamental OSHA standards. The 30-hour course is a more in-depth review of the OSHA Standards

The 30-hour course is a more in-depth review of the OSHA Standards.  At the conclusion of this course, participants will have participated in discussions of, and hands-on review of, the following:

A review of OSHA required topics:

  • OSH Act and General Duty Clause, inspections, citations and penalties.
  • OSHA Focus Four hazards (electrical, fall protection, caught in between and struck by).
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Life Saving Equipment.

Additional topics – electives – include:

  • Walking/Working Surfaces

  • Cranes, Derricks, hoists, elevators, and conveyors

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of the above topics in table-top exercises.  10- or 30-hour Cards will be requested from OSHA at the completion of the class.

OSHA 10/30-Hour General Industry

The 10- and- 30-hour training programs were developed by OSHA to provide important safety information on fundamental OSHA standards. The 30-hour course is a more in-depth review of the OSHA Standards

Personal Protective Equipment

Hearing Conservation

This 2 hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.95 and 29 CFR 1926.101 and will include identification of potential occupational noise hazards in participants’ workplaces

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to eliminate or control hearing hazards through engineering, administrative, and PPE controls.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the effects of Occupational noise and sound on hearing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly select hearing protection devices.

The course will consist of lecture and a discussion section which will focus on identification of potential occupational noise hazards in the participants’ workplaces.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Respiratory Protection

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.134 and 29 CFR 1926.103 and will include a hands-on review of selection, maintenance/cleaning, and wearing of respiratory protection

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge to determine when respirators are required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select the proper respiratory protection based on the hazard(s).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques needed to implement a medical program.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of the MUC and APF, and how each relates to various workplace situations.

The course will consist of lecture as well as a hands-on review of examples of respiratory protection.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.

Eye and Face Safety

This 2-hour course is designed to comply with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.133 and 29 CFR 1926.102 and will review potential eye and face hazards in the workplace

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify potential eye and face hazards in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select the appropriate personal protective equipment based on the identified hazards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly wear and maintain eye and face protection.

The course will consist of lecture and a hands-on section which will focus on identification of potential eye and face hazards in the participants’ workplaces.  Certificates of Completion provided at the completion of the course.
