{"id":1036,"date":"2014-03-26T16:06:14","date_gmt":"2014-03-26T16:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allrisktraining.com\/?p=1036"},"modified":"2014-03-28T16:35:40","modified_gmt":"2014-03-28T16:35:40","slug":"know-best-first-aid-trainer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allrisktraining.com\/allrisktraining\/first-aid\/know-best-first-aid-trainer\/","title":{"rendered":"Know You have the Best First Aid Trainer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><a style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"https:\/\/allrisktraining.com\/allrisktraining\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/best-first-aid-trainer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1043 alignnone\" alt=\"best-first-aid-trainer\" src=\"https:\/\/allrisktraining.com\/allrisktraining\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/best-first-aid-trainer-150x150.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Know You have the Best First Aid Trainer!<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>First Aid Training is a type of training you hope never to use, however depending on your environment you may use first aid training more than any other.<\/p>\n<p>Here, we are providing information regarding how important first aid skills are for EVERYONE, and examples of how and why people with training skills from specific occupations make the very best first aid trainers.<\/p>\n<p>For our purposes and the purposes of this article <strong><i>please note<\/i>, \u201cFirst Aid Training\u201d is a combination of First Aid, CPR and AED Training.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having the knowledge and skills to render care prior to emergency services arriving on scene increases the chances of a positive long term outcome for the victim.\u00a0 In our combined experience, well over 30 years,\u00a0as emergency service providers, we&#8217;ve noticed that about 90% of victims who were provided appropriate first aid had a better long term outcome than those who were not provided first aid within the first 5 minutes. \u00a0Arguably, this 5 minute timing is why the Occupational Health and Safety Organization (OSHA) enforces a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/pls\/oshaweb\/owadisp.show_document?p_table=INTERPRETATIONS&amp;p_id=25627\">standard<\/a> that emergency care providers for the workplace cannot be more than 4 minutes away, as pointed out in a previous article.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/allrisktraining.com\/first-aid\/first-aid-emergencies\/\">(click here for related article)<\/a>\u00a0 If emergency services are more than 4 minutes away, OSHA requires that first aid providers be present in the workplace.\u00a0 First Aid knowledge is great for any situation, not just the workplace, however the OSHA standard drives the point for providing immediate care. \u00a0Non-professional rescuers who initiate care before medics arrive make a remarkable difference.<\/p>\n<p>The best first aid trainers are professional firefighters, paramedics, nurses and EMT&#8217;s who have a passion for the subject of First Aid.\u00a0 These people know first-hand that a victim has a better chance of survival when someone nearby has the knowledge and skills to render care prior to emergency services arriving on scene.\u00a0 Professional firefighters, paramedics, nurses and EMT&#8217;s provide care on a daily basis. \u00a0They take those real world examples and knowledge with them when they train.\u00a0 As you can imagine, real examples and true stories keep trainees alert and interested.\u00a0 Providing examples and materials to actually set a broken bone, treat significant cuts, burns, punctures, dismemberment and cardiac arrest are amazing knowledge sharing and skill building tools.\u00a0 It never fails to make us feel great when our students say that they truly enjoy our added involvement in the training because we ask them pointed questions and we provide examples that relate directly to their specific environment. \u00a0\u00a0Providing excellent examples specific to a person\u2019s environment or scenario provides students with food for thought directly related to first aid care in their environment.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure instructors go beyond the books and relate their years of experience into training scenarios that will echo in the trainees\u2019 minds and prepare the trainees for actual events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Know You have the Best First Aid Trainer!
